WINTER STORM WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 4 PM MST THIS AFTERNOON...

A WINTER STORM WARNING FOR HEAVY SNOW AND BLOWING SNOW REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 4 PM MST THIS AFTERNOON.

* SNOW ACCUMULATIONS... ADDITIONAL ACCUMULATIONS MAY REACH 3 TO 6 INCHES ABOVE 7500 FEET... EXCEPT LOCALLY HIGHER AMOUNTS IN THE NORTHWEST MOUNTAINS. LOWER ELEVATIONS CAN EXPECT 1 TO 3 ADDITIONAL INCHES... EXCEPT LOCALLY HIGHER AMOUNTS IN THE NORTHWEST HIGHLANDS NEAR THE COLORADO BORDER.

* TIMING... SNOWFALL WILL BE MODERATE AT TIMES EARLY THIS MORNING BEFORE DECREASING IN COVERAGE AND INTENSITY LATE THIS MORNING ALONG AND SOUTH OF I-40... WHERE CLOUD COVER WILL BEGIN TO BREAK UP AND SHOWERS WILL DISPERSE DURING THE AFTERNOON. ACROSS THE NORTHWEST MOUNTAINS AND NORTHWEST HIGHLANDS PERIODS OF MODERATE TO HEAVY SNOW WILL PERSIST THROUGHOUT THE DAY BEFORE DECREASING IN COVERAGE AND INTENSITY THIS EVENING.

* WINDS... SOUTHWEST 15 TO 30 MPH... EXCEPT STRONGER ON RIDGE TOPS WHERE GUSTS MAY REACH 40 MPH. THE STRONGEST WINDS WILL FAVOR THE WEST CENTRAL AND SOUTHWEST MOUNTAINS. WIND DIRECTIONS WILL SHIFT OUT OF THE NORTHWEST DURING THE AFTERNOON.

* SNOW LEVELS... .SOUTH OF I-40 SNOW LEVELS WILL GRADUALLY RISE TO NEAR 7500 FEET THIS AFTERNOON. NORTH OF I-40 THEY WILL GRADUALLY RISE TO NEAR 7000 FEET.

* LOCAL IMPACTS... HAZARDOUS DRIVING CONDITIONS ARE EXPECTED ALONG WITH VISIBILITIES UNDER ONE MILE AT TIMES IN SNOW AND BLOWING SNOW. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... A WINTER STORM WARNING FOR HEAVY SNOW AND BLOWING SNOW MEANS SEVERE WINTER WEATHER CONDITIONS ARE EXPECTED OR OCCURRING. SIGNIFICANT AMOUNTS OF SNOW ARE FORECAST THAT WILL MAKE TRAVEL DANGEROUS. STRONG WINDS ARE LIKELY.
