THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN ALBUQUERQUE HAS ISSUED A WIND ADVISORY... WHICH IS IN EFFECT FROM 8 AM THIS MORNING TO 8 PM MDT THIS EVENING.

* LOCATION... MUCH OF NORTH CENTRAL TO NORTHWEST TO WEST CENTRAL NEW MEXICO... INCLUDING THE SAN JUAN... JEMEZ... AND WEST CENTRAL MOUNTAINS. THIS ALSO INCLUDES THE NORTHWEST PLATEAU AND HIGHLANDS... AS WELL AS THE LOWER CHAMA RIVER VALLEY.

* WINDS... WEST WINDS OF 25 TO 35 MPH WITH GUSTS OF 45 TO 50 MPH.

* TIMING... WINDS WILL CONTINUE TO INCREASE THROUGH THE MORNING WITH STRONG WINDS LASTING THROUGH THE EARLY EVENING. THE STRONGEST WINDS ARE EXPECTED BETWEEN 11 AM AND 6 PM.

* VISIBILITY... MAY BE LOCALLY REDUCED TO 3 MILES OR LESS IN BLOWING DUST.

* LOCAL IMPACTS... STRONG CROSSWINDS WILL DEVELOP ON NORTH TO SOUTH ORIENTED HIGHWAYS... MAKING DRIVING DIFFICULT... ESPECIALLY FOR HIGH PROFILE VEHICLES.

TAKE ACTION TO SECURE TRASH CANS... LAWN FURNITURE... AND OTHER LOOSE OR LIGHT WEIGHT OUTDOOR OBJECTS.

AS A POTENT TROUGH OF LOW PRESSURE ALOFT MOVES INTO THE CENTRAL ROCKIES THIS MORNING... A VERY STRONG MID LEVEL JET WILL CONTINUE TO INFILTRATE NEW MEXICO. AS THIS SYSTEM RAPIDLY MOVES INTO THE CENTRAL PLAINS OF THE NATION A VERY STRONG PRESSURE GRADIENT WILL DEVELOP AT THE SURFACE... INDUCING STRONG TO POTENTIALLY DAMAGING WINDS OVER A LARGE PORTION OF NEW MEXICO TODAY. SOME GUSTS MAY OCCASIONALLY REACH 60 AND 65 MPH ALONG AND EAST OF THE CENTRAL MOUNTAIN CHAIN OF THE STATE... INCLUDING THE EAST CENTRAL PLAINS. WINDS WILL GRADUALLY DECREASE IN SPEED THIS EVENING NEAR AND AFTER SUNSET.
