* LOCATION... THE NORTHWEST AND WEST CENTRAL MOUNTAINS... THE RIO GRANDE VALLEY INCLUDING THE ALBUQUERQUE AND SANTA FE METRO AREAS... THE NORTHEAST AND EAST CENTRAL PLAINS... THE CENTRAL HIGHLANDS... AND EASTERN LINCOLN AND SOUTHWEST CHAVES COUNTIES.

* WINDS... SOUTH TO SOUTHWEST 25 TO 35 MPH WITH GUSTS UP TO 50 MPH.

* TIMING... WINDS WILL INCREASE RAPIDLY THIS MORNING AND PEAK BETWEEN NOON AND 6 PM BEFORE TAPERING OFF DURING THE EARLY EVENING HOURS. WINDS MAY PERSIST OVER THE NORTHEAST PLAINS INTO TONIGHT BEFORE SUBSIDING.

* VISIBILITY... LOCALLY REDUCED IN DUST PRONE AREAS.

* LOCAL IMPACTS... STRONG CROSS WINDS WILL EXIST OVER THE REGION... AND WILL IMPACT MAJOR HIGHWAYS INCLUDING INTERSTATE 40 AS WELL AS INTERSTATE 25 FROM GLORIETA PASS SOUTH TO THE SOCORRO AND SIERRA COUNTY LINE.

A POWERFUL JET AHEAD OF THE LOW WILL CROSS NEW MEXICO TODAY. WINDS WILL INCREASE STEADILY THIS MORNING... FIRST OVER THE WESTERN AND NORTHERN HIGH TERRAIN. BY MID DAY... STRONG WINDS WITH GUSTS UP TO 50 OR 60 MPH WILL EXTEND FROM THE CENTRAL HIGH TERRAIN AND ADJACENT HIGHLANDS TO THE NORTHEAST PLAINS.
