William Repass, violist, will perform a senior recital at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at the Betty Ehart Senior Center. Family, friends and the public are invited.

Repass began playing viola in the fourth grade under the guidance of Cheryl Smith-Ecke. Shortly thereafter, he began private lessons with Marion Pack, which continues to this date. He has also studied under Michael Gyurik in the Summer Strings Program and in the High School Symphonic Orchestra.

Repass has performed in the orchestras at Chamisa Elementary School, Los Alamos Middle School and Los Alamos High School, including four years in the LAHS Symphonic Orchestra. He played three and a half years with the Los Alamos Symphony Orchestra in addition to a performance with the Pajarito String Ensemble. He also played for two years with the Los Alamos Student Quartet as part of the Santa Fe ProMusica CHAMPS Program. He auditioned, and was selected four consecutive years for the New Mexico All-State Orchestras, Concert Orchestra as a freshman, and Symphonic Orchestra for the remainder of his high school years. He will attend Hendrix College in the fall on both academic and music scholarships.

Saturday’s program will feature a selection of classical and contemporary works by Shostakovich, Kalliwoda, Sebelius and Bach.

Pianist Ronaele Freestone will accompany Repass during the concert. Refreshments will be served following the concert. The Los Alamos Arts Council is sponsoring the recital.
