STRICKFADEN – William B. Strickfaden (Bill), 71, died Dec. 15, 2007. Born July 23, 1936, Bill grew up in Las Vegas, Silver City and Clovis, N.M. He graduated from Clovis High School in 1954, the same year his folks moved to Los Alamos where Bill Sr., would manage the telephone company. As an undergraduate at the University of New Mexico, Bill worked for the Los Alamos Scientific Laboratory at the Water Boiler Reactor. He completed graduate studies in theoretical chemical physics at Vancouver, British Columbia, Edmonton, Alberta and at Utrecht, Holland.Bill worked at Boeing Aircraft Company in Washington and at several Department of Defense contractors in California. He also held a position as professor of physics at Clarkson College of Technology in New York.Bill enjoyed extended sojourns in Thailand. In recent years Bill returned to Los Alamos where he enjoyed studying many aspects of physical science, developing close friendships with many in the community of like interests. The family deeply appreciates the kindness shown Bill by these caring friends and colleagues, and by local social service agencies.Bill is survived by daughter Megan Strickfaden and son Mark Strickfaden, grandchildren Kai and Aerlan, all of Canada; brother Gerry (Georgia) and stepmother Mary Strickfaden, of Los Alamos.
