A master plan for the redevelopment of White Rock is at stake when the consultants hired by Los Alamos County meet with community members this week. Two more community forums in White Rock will give the consultants most of the input they need to craft a plan for the redevelopment of White Rock. The forums will be held at 6 p.m. both Wednesday and Thursday in the training room at the new White Rock fire station.Jay Renkens, planner for the firm Moore Iacofano Goltsman (MIG), said in aa recent phone interview that this week’s meetings are part of a series that will allow the company to see what the true community vision is for White Rock.“Just two meetings in 24 hours can change concepts to reality” is the theme of the two-day community charrette, which will be hosted by MIG and the county.“We’re very open to ideas from the community,” Renkens said, adding that local input will be considered throughout the entire planning process up until the plan is presented to council early next year. Renkens said that local participation would be the key to success of the master plan the consultants will create. He said that if community members create the vision for the town they want to see, they would take responsibility for seeing it through.
