The future of the White Rock Center Master Plan/Economic Development Strategy will be decided by County Council Tuesday during a 7 p.m. open work session in the White Rock Fire Station on N.M. 4. The project is the result of extensive hard work and collaboration among a range of stakeholders, community leaders, elected officials and members of the public.
The project process began in August and has included seven community forums, 10 Steering Committee meetings, three county council briefings, stakeholder interviews and an interactive project website.
The project area includes the commercial area south of N.M. 4 between Rover and Sherwood, Piñon Park, the A-19 parcel north of N.M. 4 and the new fire station.
The resulting Master Plan/Economic Development Strategy outlines a vision for White Rock Center, a development concept and program, and a detailed investment strategy.
Also on Tuesday's agenda for consideration is a possible revision to the county's zoning map for 34.06 acres, known as the Airport Basin, from a federal lands district to a public lands district zone.
Council also is scheduled to decide whether to amend Ordinance No. 536 and establish July 8 for a public hearing to consider allocating $1,490,500 to WorldScape Incorporated.
