The grand hose uncoupling ceremony for Fire Station 3 in White Rock will take place at 4 p.m. Wednesday, after which the public will be treated to an open house and tours of the new facility until 6:30 p.m. Local, state and federal officials are expected to take part in the hose-uncoupling, which takes the place of a more traditional ribbon cutting for firefighters.
Designed as a state-of-the-art facility, the new White Rock Fire Station on NM4 replaces the more than 40-year-old fire station located on Rover Boulevard, between State Road 4 and the Rover/Meadow intersection. The new fire station is designed to house 16 firefighters, four officers, and five apparatus bays. It also includes a conference / training room able to accommodate 50 individuals.
The new site is located on approximately five acres at the far eastern corner of land transferred from the DOE to the County, near the intersection of Rover/SR 4. HB Construction, Inc. was the contractor for the project. They began construction in May 2006 and completed construction in October 2007.
