Dear Editor,
The people of Los Alamos will miss Jim West. His decision to resign from the county council must have been difficult and we all wish him well as he pursues treatment and recovery from his illness. Jim has been a hard working servant of the county, and his shoes will be hard to fill.
However, I should like to suggest that the county council consider the results of the recent election as it seeks to identify a worthy successor to West. The top three finishers in the voting have already earned places on the council. It would seem natural to look to the fourth-place finisher, Ken Milder, as an appropriate candidate to fill the West vacancy.
Few public servants have worked as conscientiously in the county’s interests as Ken. And the voters have already identified him as their next logical choice to serve on the council.
