ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (AP) — Some northern New Mexico highways have difficult driving conditions Thursday as the latest blast of freezing temperatures, wind and snow causes delays and closures in parts of the state.
The state Department of Transportation says routes with difficult conditions due to moderate snowfall overnight include Interstate 25 between Colmor and Raton and between Rowe and Watrous.
The Bernalillo County Sheriff's Department says traffic on Interstate 40 east of Albuquerque is slow due to the weather and that and multiple crashes have been reported.
National Weather Service forecasters say snowfall accumulations in some areas could reach 6 to 8 inches, with hardest-hit areas expected to include Torrance County and north toward Las Vegas.
School closed Thursday included those in Santa Fe and in Albuquerque's eastern mountains.
