DE BACA COUNTY... EAST SLOPES SANGRE DE CRISTO MOUNTAINS... EASTERN LINCOLN COUNTY... EASTERN SAN MIGUEL COUNTY... ESTANCIA VALLEY... FAR NORTHEAST HIGHLANDS... FAR NORTHWEST HIGHLANDS... * SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS WILL CONTINUE TO PRODUCE HEAVY RAIN TODAY THROUGH THIS EVENING WITH THE POTENTIAL FOR FLASH FLOODING. ALREADY SATURATED SOILS IN SOME LOCATIONS WILL BOOST SURFACE RUNOFF AND INCREASE THE FLASH FLOOD THREAT.

* TORRENTIAL DOWNPOURS MAY CAUSE SUDDEN WATER RISES AND POSSIBLE OVERFLOWS OF DITCHES... ARROYOS AND SMALL STREAMS. IN TOWN... HEAVY DOWNPOURS MAY FLOOD STREETS... INTERSECTIONS AND UNDERPASSES. LOW LYING AREAS AND ADJACENT STRUCTURES WILL ALSO BE PRONE TO FLASH FLOODING.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

A FLASH FLOOD WATCH MEANS THAT CONDITIONS MAY DEVELOP THAT LEAD TO FLASH FLOODING. FLASH FLOODING IS A VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION. MONITOR LATER FORECASTS AND BE PREPARED TO TAKE ACTION SHOULD FLASH FLOOD WARNINGS BE ISSUED.

HEAVY RAIN TO CONTINUE TODAY THROUGH THIS EVENING WITH THE POTENTIAL FOR FLASH FLOODING...

THE POTENTIAL FOR FLASH FLOODING WILL PERSIST TODAY AND THIS EVENING AS A SURGE OF MONSOON MOISTURE CONTINUES TO CROSS NEW MEXICO. SLOW MOVING SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS WILL BE CAPABLE OF PRODUCING HEAVY RAIN AT RATES OVER AN INCH PER HOUR. MODERATE TO HEAVY RAIN MAY FAVOR THE CENTRAL MOUNTAIN CHAIN AND EASTERN PLAINS THIS MORNING... BUT IT WILL INTENSIFY AND SPREAD TO INCLUDE THE RIO GRANDE VALLEY AND WESTERN MOUNTAINS BY THIS AFTERNOON. THIS EVENING THE COVERAGE AND INTENSITY OF PRECIPITATION WILL GRADUALLY DECREASE WITH THE HEAVIEST SHOWERS LINGERING OVER CENTRAL AND SOUTHWESTERN NEW MEXICO. STORMS MAY TRAIN REPEATEDLY OVER SOME LOCATIONS INCREASING THEIR RISK FOR FLASH FLOODING.
