THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN ALBUQUERQUE HAS ISSUED THE FOLLOWING WATCH THAT INCLUDES THE LOS ALAMOS VICINITY:
* FLASH FLOOD WATCH FOR A PORTION OF NORTHERN AND NORTHWESTERN NEW MEXICO... INCLUDING THE FOLLOWING AREAS... FAR NORTHWEST HIGHLANDS... JEMEZ MOUNTAINS... LOWER CHAMA RIVER VALLEY AND SAN JUAN MOUNTAINS.
* FROM 4 PM MDT THIS AFTERNOON THROUGH SATURDAY MORNING.
* PERIODS OF HEAVY RAIN ON AREAS OF SNOW PACK COULD GENERATE RAPID SNOW MELT AND HEAVY RUNOFF. SMALL STREAMS... ARROYOS... AND RIVERS MAY EXPERIENCE RAPID RISES... FAST FLOWS... AND OVER-BANK FLOODING.
A FLASH FLOOD WATCH MEANS THAT CONDITIONS MAY DEVELOP THAT LEAD TO FLASH FLOODING. FLASH FLOODING IS A VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION. MONITOR LATER FORECASTS AND BE PREPARED TO TAKE ACTION SHOULD FLASH FLOOD WARNINGS BE ISSUED.
