The National Weather Service issued the following advisory Tuesday morning:

ARCTIC AIRMASS TO INVADE THE EASTERN HALF OF THE STATE ON WEDNESDAY...

LIGHT SNOWFALL ACCUMULATIONS POSSIBLE OVER THE NORTHERN AND CENTRAL MOUNTAINS LATE WEDNESDAY AND THURSDAY...

A STRONG ARCTIC COLD FRONT WILL RACE SOUTH ACROSS THE EASTERN PLAINS OF NEW MEXICO WEDNESDAY AFTERNOON. THE COLD FRONT WILL BE ACCOMPANIED BY STRONG NORTHERLY WINDS OF 25 TO 35 MPH WITH GUSTS OF 40 TO 50 MPH. THE COMBINATION OF THE STRONG WINDS AND FALLING TEMPERATURES WILL CREATE INCREASINGLY COLD WIND CHILL VALUES. COLD TEMPERATURES IN THE SINGLE DIGITS AND TEENS COMBINED WITH THE WINDY CONDITIONS MAY PRODUCE WIND CHILL VALUES BETWEEN 0 AND -15 DEGREES OVER PORTIONS OF THE EASTERN PLAINS WEDNESDAY NIGHT.

IN ADDITION... A LIGHT ACCUMULATION OF SNOWFALL MAY ALSO OCCUR WITH THE FRONT ESPECIALLY AS IT NEARS THE CENTRAL MOUNTAIN CHAIN WEDNESDAY NIGHT. THE WINDY CONDITIONS MAY LEAD TO AREAS OF BLOWING SNOW AND REDUCED VISIBILITIES WEDNESDAY NIGHT INTO THURSDAY OVER PORTIONS OF THE EASTERN PLAINS. A SECOND DISTURBANCE MAY BRING AN ADDITIONAL LIGHT SNOWFALL ACCUMULATION TO THE NORTHERN AND CENTRAL MOUNTAINS ON THURSDAY. THE EXACT STRENGTH AND TRACK OF THIS SYSTEM IS UNCERTAIN AT THIS TIME.
