The House of Hope Women has begun its Ways and Means Projects for securing funding for the next October house-building trip to Júarez, Chihuahua, Mexico.

A raffle is the first of the projects that the group is sponsoring – an opportunity to win one of three different items.

The raffle includes a multi-colored quilt donated by local quilter Marian Kirchner; a gift certificate for dinner for two at the Blue Window Bistro and a two-day ski ticket for the Pajarito Ski Hill. The first name drawn will have the choice of prizes while the second and third winners will be awarded the remaining prizes.

Tickets may be purchased from any House of Hope member or at Trinity on the Hill Episcopal Church office. Prices are $2 per ticket or 10 tickets for $10. The drawing will take place Dec. 17 at the conclusion of the shopping day at Shop on the Corner.

Ticket holders need not be present to win.

Other upcoming fundraisers will be the Shrove Tuesday Pancake supper, which will be held Feb. 24; Prom Attire Exchange, which will be held in March; Coffee Morning, which is scheduled for April 25; the Vacation Bible School Thursday dinner, which will be in June; and a pancake breakfast at the Posse Shack.

The House of Hope Women fund the purchase of building materials in Mexico, which are delivered to the site, thus aiding the Mexican economy.

Proceeds from this raffle will go toward the supplies and the materials needed to build the next house in Mexico next October, which will mark the fifth year that this all-women construction team will be making the trip to the border town to build a home for a family who would otherwise have little hope of permanent, stable housing.
