Vote Smart will be on the Hill Friday

-A A +A

Dear Editor,It appears that 2008 will be one of the most intensely political years for the United States in living memory. Already, we are being inundated by wave after wave of position statements promises, and commentary flowing unabated through all the media. How much is believable? Where can voters find accurate, unbiased information? Actually, a place does exist where citizens can quickly discover what candidates for office have promised they will do, how they have voted on critical issues, who has contributed to their campaigns (and how much) and how various advocacy groups have rated their performance.Project Vote Smart maintains a national data base of all this information. Simply go online to www.projectvotesmart.org to access information about candidates and office holders at national, state and local levels. Best of all, there is no charge or concern that you will be put on a contact list for solicitations.Sound too good to be true? Find out more about the impressive work done by this organization when a tour bus equipped with video and computer demonstrations comes to Los Alamos on Friday. It will be parked at 1370-A Central Avenue (across the street from the Bradbury Museum) from about 11a.m.-3p.m. Check it out. We think you will be glad you did.Joseph and Lois Thompson, White RockChristine Chandler, president,League of Women Voters of Los Alamos
