A pair of Los Alamos Hilltopper volleyball players were named to the All-Class AAAA second team for the 2007 season.Kristina Little and Vanessa Espinoza were both honored with second-team selections for the season for Los Alamos, while three other Hilltoppers earned Honorable Mentions.“I’m excited we got so many,” Hilltopper head coach Diana Stokes said of her team’s selections. “This is the most I’ve ever had from any of my teams.”Little was named to the second team for Los Alamos as a middle hitter, and Espinoza, Los Alamos’ libero, was named as a second-team defensive specialist.“It’s a great thing they made it on the second team, being that they only have two players on the first and second teams,” Stokes said. “That ranks them top four in the state in their positions.”Both Little and Espinoza have aspirations of playing volleyball in college and are working to get themselves noticed by recruiters.Also from the 2007 squad, Jessica Stokes was named as an Honorable Mention outside hitter, Emma Myers as an Honorable Mention setter and Megan Burditt as an Honorable Mention defensive specialist.Los Alamos, which finished the 2007 season with a record of 15-10, won the District 2AAAA tournament, bounce back from a slow start in the Class AAAA playoffs before falling 3-1 to Roswell in the semifinals.Kristin Valenica of AAAA champion Moriarty was named the state Player of the Year and Moriarty coach Kim Bell was honored as Coach of the Year.
