The Los Alamos Hilltopper volleyball team ran its record to 2-0 in District 2AAAA play with a 3-0 road win Wednesday night.
The Hilltoppers got off to a slow start in the first two games of Wednesday’s contest at Bernalillo, but bounced back in both games. In the third game, the Hilltoppers jumped out to a big lead and never looked back.
Los Alamos won 25-13, 25-14 25-9. It was the second sweep in as many district outings for Los Alamos, which also evened its record on the season to 7-7.
Bernalillo’s Spartans (0-12, 0-2 in 2AAAA) have won just six games on the season.
As was the case for the Hilltoppers against the Taos Tigers a week earlier, it took awhile to get started Wednesday. The Hilltoppers held only an 8-7 lead at one point in the first game.
However, as it did against Taos, Los Alamos had a big night serving. Oksana Tretiak went on a 9-point scoring, three of those aces, to give the squad firm control of the opener.
Offensively, Los Alamos got several different people involved in the hitting game.
Taylor Ealey had eight spike kills Wednesday, while Molly Willms finished with seven, four of those coming in the final game.
Alex Nichols had a solid game two at the net, while Sabrina Little did likewise in game three.
