It’s that time of year again.  The leaves are turning and there is a chill in the air.  Fall is here and so is the Fourth Annual Piñon Elementary School Pumpkin Patch.

The event will take place from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturday at the school, located at 90 Grand Canyon Drive in White Rock.

This year, not only will pumpkins and baked goods be sold, but there will be lots of fun activities for children. The PTO will provide face painting, craft projects, games and a bouncy house.  Admission costs $1 per child.

A pie contest is a new feature this year.  Contestants should arrive between 9:30-10:30 a.m. Saturday with a pie, a serving utensil and a $5 entrance fee. Prizes will be awarded at 1 p.m.

Another new feature will be Kenny’s North Carolina BBQ, which will provide pulled pork, hot dogs and drinks.  Kenny will donate a percentage of his proceeds to the school so come by and have lunch.

Halloween is right around the corner, and as a result, the PTO is giving away (while quantities last) a free glow stick necklace with the purchase of every pumpkin – an item children could wear to trick or treat.   All proceeds from this event go into the Piñon Elementary School’s PTO general budget, which helps to pay for school and teacher supplies, field trips and other needed items.
