Village Arts to celebrate art and the holiday season

Los Alamos artist Secundino Sandoval’s work is not displayed in galleries or sold at numerous arts and crafts shows, however a chance to see the artist’s work has arrived.Village Arts by Marilyn is showcasing Sandoval’s work during an open house from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturday.Sandoval will feature 20 new pieces in the show. His work includes watercolor landscapes, florals, animals and a few still life paintings.However, aspens, Sandoval said, are his “bread and butter.”Marilyn Warren, owner of Village Arts, said she invited Sandoval to participate in the open house because she carries prints of Sandoval’s paintings and gets calls asking about his work.Plus, “He’s a very popular artist in town,” Warren said. “He is such a generous, generous person ee I just want to honor him.”Sandoval has been painting since he was child. “I started painting when I was 5 years old ee it was just something I wanted to do.”While he has been painting for years, Sandoval has never studied art. He studied architecture in college and always had a love for mechanical drawing.
