Bank of Hawaii Corporation has announced its shareholders have elected Raymond Vara, a former CEO of the Los Alamos Medical Center, to serve on its board of directors, effective Friday.
Vara is the president and chief executive officer of Hawaii Pacific Health, the state’s largest health care provider and parent company of Kapiolani Medical Center for Women & Children, Pali Momi Medical Center, Straub Clinic & Hospital and Wilcox Memorial Hospital (Kauai).

Vara joined Hawaii Pacific Health in 2002 as executive vice president and CEO of operations, and assumed the role as president and CEO in 2013.
