This is to recommend a litmus test for the credibility of political candidates.
Such questions as whether the earth’s climate is warming, how fast it is warming, and what effects this warming will have on our biosphere, are scientific questions and should be answered by scientists. In view of the current scientific consensus that the climate is warming and that human-generated greenhouse gases, including carbon dioxide, are the primary causes of this warming, political leaders who say that global warming is a “hoax,” lack objectivity on this important subject.
I think a necessary criterion for credibility of a political candidate or political party, should be that they accept the scientific consensus on climate warming, and I urge everyone to use this credibility criterion at the ballot box in the upcoming election.
