Upper level disturbance to bring wintry conditions

The National Weather Service has issued the following special weather statement:

AN UPPER LEVEL DISTURBANCE AND ASSOCIATED COLD FRONT WILL SWEEP ACROSS THE REGION TONIGHT BRINGING SCATTERED SNOW SHOWERS AND GUSTY WINDS. SNOWFALL ACCUMULATIONS BETWEEN 1 AND 3 INCHES WILL BE POSSIBLE WITH THE HIGHER AMOUNTS FAVORING ELEVATIONS ABOVE 9000 FEET OVER THE SANGRE DE CRISTO MOUNTAINS CLOSEST TO THE COLORADO STATE LINE. IT IS POSSIBLE THAT A FEW BANDS OF MODERATE SNOW COULD DEVELOP AND DEPOSIT LOCALIZED 4 INCH SNOWFALL AMOUNTS. IN ADDITION TO THE THREAT FOR FALLING SNOW... GUSTY NORTHERLY WINDS COULD PRODUCE AREAS OF BLOWING SNOW WHICH MAY REDUCE VISIBILITIES TO BELOW THREE MILES AT TIMES. CONDITIONS WILL IMPROVE DURING SUNDAY MORNING.

THOSE PLANNING TRAVEL OR OUTDOOR ACTIVITIES THROUGH SUNDAY MORNING ARE URGED TO PREPARE FOR WINTRY WEATHER CONDITIONS.
