Los Alamos High School announced that, due to Monday’s heavy snows in northern New Mexico, the District 2AAAA basketball tournaments have been pushed back.
The 2AAAA games, including Monday’s first-place playoff girls basketball game, have been pushed back to Tuesday.
The Hilltopper girls basketball team was scheduled to play Española Valley in a one-game playoff for the regular season district championship Monday, but that game has been rescheduled for Tuesday. It will be played at 5 p.m. at Capital High School.
The opening round girls game, Bernalillo at Taos, will also be played Tuesday. The winner of that game will play at Capital Wednesday.
The semifinal girls tournament game will be played Thursday at the school of the loser between Los Alamos and Española Valley, with the winner of that game hosting the 2AAAA championship game Friday night.
In the boys 2AAAA tournament, Los Alamos, by virtue of the district’s second tiebreaker, was awarded the tournament’s second seed. It will host the district semifinal Thursday, although tip-off time for that game will depend on the outcome of the Los Alamos- Española Valley girls game.
The 2AAAA boys tournament will start with Bernalillo vs. Taos Tuesday night, with the winner of that game playing at Capital Wednesday in the tournament quarterfinals.
The winner of Wednesday’s game will play at Los Alamos Thursday. Thursday’s winner will play at Española Valley Saturday.
The schedule for both tournaments, however, could be further altered depending on weather conditions Tuesday and later this week.
