A fund for Los Alamos High graduate Eric Romero and Marissa Martinez, killed in an car accident Wednesday in Española, has been set up at Guadelupe Credit Union. The fund is called “In loving memory of Eric Romero and Marissa Martinez.” They leave behind a two-week-old baby. Any credit union in New Mexico that does “shared banking” will accept a donation.
Kiwanis meets from noon to 1 p.m. each Tuesday in Kelly Hall at Trinity-on-the-Hill Episcopal Church, 3900 Trinity Drive. On July 16,--Steve Boerigter, chairman of the University of New Mexico-Los Alamos Advisory Board, and Linda Daly, chairwoman for the UNM-LA special election, will discuss the proposed UNM-LA mil levy ballot scheduled in September. In addition, Erin Kirk and Tanner Vaughn, both Kiwanis scholarship winners, will discuss their experiences at Los Alamos High School and their plans for the future.
The Federated Republican Women of Los Alamos County in conjunction with the Los Alamos Republican Party Committee will host its annual summer picnic, 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.at the Posse Lodge Wednesday on North Mesa Road. Food and activities are free to all that attend.
