The Los Alamos County Council has cancelled the work session scheduled for Tuesday at the White Rock Fire Station No. 3 due to a lack of work session agenda items. The Tuesday, Jan. 28 regular Council session will proceed as usual, beginning with public comment at 7 p.m. in the Municipal Building Council Chambers.
Los Alamos Public Lecture: Dr. Siegfried S. Hecker of Stanford University speaks about “Iran and North Korea: What A Difference A Year Makes.” 7 p.m. today at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 1967 18th Street.
Registration for the next session of dog training classes offered by the Los Alamos Dog Obedience Club (LADOC) began Monday. Classes this session will include “Teaching your dog Scent Work”, which harnesses a dog’s amazing sense of smell for a fun, exciting new sport. Puppy Kindergarten, Basic Manners, Beginning Agility, Canine Good Citizen, Conformation, and Competitive Obedience will also be offered, and classes will begin the week of Jan. 27. Class schedule, registration guidelines and registration form will be available on the LADOC website (ladoc.dogbits.com) and at the LADOC building (246 East Road, Los Alamos). Registration materials must be postmarked by Jan. 17.
The Democratic Party of Los Alamos is sponsoring a presentation by Maria Perez, a community outreach specialist with Health Action NM, 7 p.m. Jan. 16 at UNM Bldg 2 in Lecture Hall 230. Perez will provide information on the Affordable Care Act. Public is welcome.
