UNM-Los Alamos will bring college to kids in first through sixth grade this summer.
“We love having the kids on campus,” said Community Education Coordinator Eileen Gallegos. “The enthusiasm they have for learning is always inspiring.”
On July 16, UNM-LA will host the 2008 Young Readers and Writers Conference. Adult writers will share their skills with kids entering grades four through six. Conference hours are 9:40 a.m.-3:15 p.m. The cost of the full-day event is $50. The conference is divided into a number of different sessions, and attendees will select those that appeal to them.
Additionally, UNM-LA will host Children’s College again this summer, Aug. 4-8.
In its 24th year, Children’s College focuses on a fun science-oriented curriculum. Children’s College has a morning session for kids entering grades one through three and an afternoon session geared to kids entering grades four through six. Tuition is $115, which includes all materials, snacks and a T-shirt.
