Former Los Alamos High School standout Brittany Somers finished fourth for the Adams State College Grizzly cross country team Saturday.
Somers and the Grizzlies were competing in the NCAA Division II North Central Regional Championships, which were held in Vermillion, S.D.
Somers, who won the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference individual title Oct. 20, was second among ASC's contingent, behind teammate Tanya Gaurmer, who won the individual regional championship.
Somers finished the 6,000 meter course in 21:07.80.
The Grizzly women finished 58 points better than Augustana (S.D.) and Western State (Colo.).
Also running for the Grizzlies was former LAHS standout Heather Wood, who was ninth overall in Saturday's race (21:22.27), and fifth among ASC participants.
Both Wood and Somers earned All-Regional honors.
For the Grizzly men, former LAHS runner Ryan McNiff earned All-Region honors with his 13th-place finish at the race. He was fourth among the Grizzlies finishing in 31:30.
ASC's men's team was nipped for the regional title by one point. Western State finished with 45 points to ASC's 46.
The ASC women won their fifth regional title in the past six years, while the ASC men had their string of three-straight regional titles snapped.
