It’s a unique trio that will perform for the Brown Bag show at 12:30 p.m. March 5 at Fuller Lodge – a soprano opera singer, a French horn player and a pianist. While the Amhran Trio may be different, members share similarities such as a love for music.“I think, for me, it’s just the fact that all three of us are pretty much on the same level as musicians,” said soprano Louise Mendius. “It’s fun because we all play off of each other.”The Brown Bag, French horn musician John Hargreaves said, seemed like an opportunity to show the community what the trio can do. “It seemed like a good chance to play,” he said. The trio formed in an informal way. Hargreaves said they started out just rehearsing for fun. As they got more polished, he said, they began looking for places to perform. The concert will feature a wide range of music including Broadway tunes and a solo piece for the French horn.A real highlight of the concert, Hargreaves said, will be a suite of Irish songs.“(I’m) looking forward to playing a wide variety of music,” he said.Pianist Dale Talbott said the Brown Bag concert is hopefully just the beginning. “I think we’re looking at doing more concerts,” he said.Talbott, Hargreaves and Mendius may be a newly formed trio, but they are not newcomers to music.
