It’s been a busy hour on the Los Alamos roadways for Los Alamos Police and Fire Departments and the New Mexico Game and Fish Commission.

Traffic heading eastbound was in lengthy delays for about an hour as LAPD and LAFD respond to a pair of crashes on the Main Hill. As of 1:15 p.m., traffic continued to be backed up eastbound as law enforcement tended to two separate one-car accidents. by 1:30 p.m., traffic started to move and was close to back to normal.

Vehicles involved included a Ford station wagon and a Toyota truck. The accidents occurred within a few minutes of each other and they were both in the same proximity.

Police say that speed on a wet road was likely a factor in the accidents.

Rain also is forecast for the next three days.

Crews also were dispatched to a home on Barranca Mesa. There was a report of bear in a kitchen but by the time crews got there, the bear had escaped.
