The Hilltopper boys and girls teams will host their regular season track and field finale Friday at Sullivan Field. Teams from Taos, St. Michael’s Santa Fe and Capital are scheduled to attend.
Field events start at 3 p.m.
Heading into this final meet before the 2-4A championships next weekend — where the Hilltopper teams have dominated since the creation of the district in 2000 — Los Alamos is still hoping to plug some holes in its state qualification roster.
Los Alamos’ boys have quite a few more slots to fill, including all the sprint events, both hurdles distances and the 400 meter relay. Los Alamos’ girls are missing just two running events from their repertoire, the 800 and the 1600 relay.
Friday, Los Alamos will get a first-hand look at Santa Fe, the only team that might give the Hilltoppers some sort of a fight next week on either the boys or the girls side.
The quad will be Los Alamos’ second home meet of the season. The Hilltopper girls finished second behind Cleveland at the April 10 Los Alamos Invitational, while the Hilltopper boys were third at that meet behind Cleveland and Albuquerque Academy.
