Stephen Townsley earned the Los Alamos Tennis Club men’s singles championship Sunday.
Townsley topped Kevin Mitchell in the men’s A finals Sunday at Urban Park, taking their contest in straight sets. Townsley prevailed 6-2, 7-6 in the championship match.
In his three tournament matches, Townsley didn’t lose a single set.
Also in Sunday’s final round of the LATC championship tournament, the men’s A doubles team of David Lee/Bob Tonelli picked up the club’s title with its win over Mike Fitzsimmons/Dan Kelly. The match was close, but Lee/Tonelli earned the straight-set victory, 7-6, 7-5.
Other winners included Sergey Kurennoy, who defeated Jianwei Hu in the men’s B final, 6-0, 6-2, Giri Raichur/Elizabeth Keating, which won the mixed doubles A final over Joel Williams/Alison Walters, 5-7, 6-1, 6-3, and Tom Kelley/George Von Nieda, which won the mixed doubles B final against Debi Croney/Emily Nunez, 4-6, 6-0, 6-3.
Saturday, Jeena Kim clinched the LATC women’s title with two straight victories, one of them coming over defending champion Warapha Prime in straight sets.
