The Los Alamos Hilltopper girls basketball team picked up an important win Thursday night.
Los Alamos held the Albuquerque Academy Chargers to just one point in the first quarter and just five points in the fourth quarter to earn a big road victory, 41-30.
Academy (0-3) rallied to cut the Hilltopper lead down to 17-14 at the break but the Hilltoppers scored 13 points in the third quarter and 11 points in the fourth quarter to seal the win.
It was the first win by the Hilltoppers over a Class 4A team. The Hilltoppers (2-1) will face another Class 4A team Saturday night at home when they play the Moriarty Pintos (0-3). Moriarty is averaging only 21.3 points per game this season and was held to 13 points Tuesday against Hope Christian and 20 points Thursday against Belen.
