'Toppers lose vs. Storm, Panthers in softball

The Hilltopper softball team fell in an inter-classification game to the Cleveland Storm Thursday afternoon.
Los Alamos scored three runs to take a 3-2 lead after 1-1/2 innings and tied the game at 5-5 after 4-1/2 innings, but the Storm scored six unanswered runs in the fifth and sixth to win 11-5 in Rio Rancho.
Kacie Swihart of Class 5A Cleveland went 2-for-3 in the game and scored two runs to lead the Storm to the win.
Jordan Hammock (0-1) took the loss for Los Alamos.
This morning, Los Alamos started play in the Piedra Vista Invitational. Los Alamos was crushed in its opening pool play round game against the Piedra Vista Panthers 15-1 in a game that lasted only 3 innings.
The Hilltoppers, who will play Gallup and Grants today in pool play as well, dropped to 0-3 on the season with this morning’s loss.
