Girls soccer is No. 1 in state
The Los Alamos Hilltopper girls soccer team tops the first Class 4A rankings of the season released by NMSoccer.com.
The Hilltoppers earned a rating of .76, one of only four teams in Class 4A to earn a rating in positive territory, to claim the top spot this week. The statewide polls were released Tuesday. This was the first week MaxPreps polls were broken down by classification.
Los Alamos (9-1) opened District 2-4A play with a big win over the Bernalillo Spartans Wednesday, 11-0. The Hilltoppers have won six straight contests.
In the website’s national rankings, Los Alamos finished 82nd overall. Los Alamos finished as high as No. 25 among the nation’s girls soccer programs.
Finishing right behind Los Alamos in the 4A rankings was Aztec, which with 12 wins is the winningest team in the state. Albuquerque Academy (7-3) finished third in the poll, followed by Piedra Vista (7-3) and St. Pius X (7-4), the only team to have defeated Los Alamos this season.
