The Los Alamos Hilltopper girls golf team picked up its third qualification leg for the state tournament Monday at the Warm-Up Tournament.
In its first tournament of the spring season, at Los Alamos Golf Course, the Hilltoppers fired a team score of 369, easily going under the target score of 388 Monday.
That score, along with its scores at the Coyote Del Mapais course in Grants in October, officially qualified the team for state competition.
This will be Los Alamos’ third trip to the state tournament in four years.
Also Monday, the Hilltopper boys finished second overall behind Los Lunas. Los Alamos shot a 348, 10 strokes behind the Class 4A Tigers for the team title.
Jonathan Osden shot a 78, earning his second individual qualifying leg of the season. Osden finished as the runner-up behind medalist Chesten Browning of Los Lunas, who had a 1-over 73 Monday.
For the Hilltopper girls, Emma Haines led the team with an 86. Jennifer Necker had a 91, which actually earned her an individual leg. Emily Johnson finished with a score of 98.
Only one other full team was in action Monday, the Valencia Jaguars, who finished more than 150 shots back of Los Alamos.
