Dodgers call 3 more up to Bigs

The Los Angeles Dodgers called up three more Albuquerque Isotopes to join their expanded roster Tuesday.
Outfielder Jerry Sands, right-handed pitcher John Ely and catcher Tim Federowicz joined the Dodgers on their series at Washington Tuesday.
Currently, six Isotopes from the 2011 season are on the Dodgers’ expanded roster. Major League teams can add roster positions after Sept. 1.
Along with the three Isotopes called up Tuesday, pitcher Dana Eveland and infielder Russ Mitchell were brought up to the big club last week and relief pitcher Ramon Troncoso joined the team Sunday.
Of those players, all have spent at least some time in the Majors except Federowicz. Federowicz joined Albuquerque at the 2011 trade deadline in a deal that landed Trayvon Robinson — the Isotopes’ best offensive player through the first half of the season — with the Seattle Mariners organization in a three-team deal.
This season, Federowicz, playing for the first time in Triple-A, hit .325 with seven doubles, six home runs and 17 RBI in just 25 games.
Sands led the Isotopes with 25 home runs and 88 RBI this season, while Ely went 7-8 with a 5.99 ERA in 25 starts for Albuquerque.
In all, 19 players spent time with both the Isotopes and Dodgers this season.
The Isotopes closed out their 2011 season losing five straight games on the road, including four against eventual PCL American South champion Round Rock. They finished 70-74 and were a distant 17 games back in the division, although that mark was still good enough for a runner-up finish.
Isotopes Park will host the Triple-A National Championship Game Sept. 20. The PCL playoff champion will face the champion of the International League in a one-game championship contest.
Before that game, there will be an autograph session with former Dodgers Steve Garvey, Ron Cey and Bill Russell.
