The Albuquerque Isotopes open a critical home series Saturday against the New Orleans Zephyrs.
Albuquerque and New Orleans will meet for a four-game set at Isotopes Park at 7:05 p.m. Saturday in what could be a big series for both teams. Heading into today’s play – the Isotopes are wrapping up a road series tonight at Colorado Springs – the Isotopes lead the Zephyrs by three games in the PCL American Southern standings.
The Albuquerque-New Orleans series is scheduled through Tuesday. Saturday night’s game will include postgame fireworks.
Thursday, the Isotopes (72-53) were drubbed by Colorado Springs’ Sky Sox, 11-2. Isotpes staring pitcher Stephen Fife (9-6) was knocked around for his 4-2/3 innings, giving up 9 runs on 11 hits.
New Orleans (69-57) failed to capitalize, however, dropping an 8-1 decision at home against Sacramento.
This season, the Isotopes and Zephyrs have evenly split their 12 contests.
