Homestand closes with loss
The Albuquerque Isotopes ended a dismal homestand with a loss Wednesday night to the Salt Lake City Bees.
With the Isotopes trying to tread water in the PCL American South division with about three weeks remaining in the regular season, they could only manage three wins in eight games at Isotopes Park, including Wednesday night’s 10-7 loss.
Albuquerque still has eight games remaining with division-leading Round Rock, five of them at home, but trail Round Rock by nine games.
Isotopes pitcher Randy Keisler (6-7) lasted just three innings Wednesday, giving up four earned runs. The Isotopes scored three runs in the bottom of the fourth to get back into the ballgame, but Salt Lake City came back with six runs in the sixth and seventh to take back control of the game.
The Isotopes actually put up good offensive numbers during the homestand, scoring at least six runs in seven of the eight ballgames, but gave up a whopping 71 runs in that stretch.
Following road series with Fresno and Sacramento, Albuquerque (60-59) will return home for nine games starting Aug. 20, including that five-game set with Round Rock’s Express (69-50).
