Bees sting Isotopes, 9-6
The Albuquerque Isotopes dropped the second of its four-game home series to the Salt Lake City Bees Monday night.
The Bees scored five runs in the fifth inning, four of them charged to starter John Ely, to win Monday’s contest 9-6.
The two teams meet again tonight at 7:05 p.m. The series and the current Istopes homestand wraps up Wednesday.
Salt Lake City finished with 16 hits in the game, 11 off Ely (6-5), who lasted just 4-1/3 innings.
Albuquerque dropped the series opener to Salt Lake City, 11-8 Sunday. It trails Round Rock by nine games in the PCL American Southern division with 25 games remaining in the 2011 season.
