Isotopes, Padres postponed until today
The Albuquerque Isotopes and the Tucson Padres were postponed in their next-to-last game of their series in Albuquerque Tuesday.
The two teams were scheduled to play a doubleheader this evening which includes a pair of seven-inning contests. Isotopes ace John Ely was scheduled to start game one and Derek Loop was the scheduled starter for the nightcap.
Lightning and thunder moved into the Albuquerque area around 6:30 p.m. Tuesday.
A sweep by the Isotopes today would secure a split with the Padres, who won the first two games of the series. The Isotopes also split with Las Vegas earlier during this homestand.
Following today’s doubleheader, the Isotopes will take Thursday off — their first scheduled day off since the All-Star break — before traveling to Reno and Colorado Springs for a pair of four-game sets.
The Isotopes have just eight more home games scheduled this year. They will be in town for a quick four-game set with New Orleans Aug. 18-21.
