Albuquerque drops third straight contest

The Las Vegas 51s only managed scores in two innings Wednesday, but that was good enough to top the Albuquerque Isotopes in their homestand opener.
Las Vegas scored four runs in the fourth inning and three more in the sixth. The Isotopes attempted a comeback but fell short, losing 7-6 at Isotopes Park.
The loss for the Isotopes (64-48) opened a four-game set against the 51s (63-48).
The Isotopes will be home for this series and for four games against the Tucson Padres.
Albuquerque will look to break its current three-game slide tonight. Game time is 7:05 p.m. Albuquerque has now lost six of its last nine contests, that after winning five out of six and claiming first place in the PCL American Southern standings.
The Isotopes are still on top of the division standings by a game and a half, however, as the Oklahoma City RedHawks (62-49) haven’t fared any better in recent days, losing five of their last six contests themselves, including a 7-4 loss to open a series at Tacoma Wednesday.
In just the second start of his pro career, pitcher Cole St. Clair gave up seven runs in 5-2/3 innings, although his defense didn’t help him much, committing three errors.
On offense, third baseman Alex Castellanos went 2-for-3 with a solo home run, partially making up for his costly error in the fourth, and Matt Angle homered in the seventh.
