Isotopes rally to win
The Albuquerque Isotopes opened their eight-game homestand Monday night with a victory over the Memphis Redbirds.
Albuquerque came back from a 6-1 deficit after 4-1/2 innings and an 8-5 deficit after 6-1/2 to earn the win. Albuquerque scored four runs in the fifth and four unaswered runs in the seventh.
Matt Angle and Osvaldo Martinez had run-scoring doubles in the seventh inning off Memphis reliever Maikel Cleto to take the lead.
Martinez drove in what would be the winning runs of the game, plating Angle and Elian Herrera with two outs in the inning.
Tonight’s second game of the series is at 7:05 p.m. John Gast (7-2) will start for the Redbirds. The Isotopes hadn’t announced their starter as of press time.
