Isotopes struggling on road trip

The Albuquerque Isotopes may be limping back for the holiday following what’s been a brutal road trip.
The Isotopes (47-38) have gone just 1-5 on this seven-game swing, including losing three in a row to the Omaha Storm Chasers. With that series in Omaha wrapping up tonight, the Isotopes have fallen to the Storm Chasers by counts of 8-7 Saturday night, 6-0 Sunday and 5-2 in extra innings last night.
Storm Chasers’ pinch hitter Max Ramirez belted a three-run homer in the bottom of the 12th off Scott Rice to end the contest.
Albuquerque, which left on this road trip as the leader of the PCL American Southern division, has now slipped to 1-1/2 games behind Oklahoma City (48-36). Albuquerque has lost four straight and drops to 3-8 on the season against Omaha (54-31), which is dominating the PCL American Northern division this season.
In all, five Isotopes pitchers combined to throw 11-1/3 innings before Rice got into trouble in the 12th against the bottom of the Storm Chasers’ lineup.
Getting on board wasn’t the problem for Albuquerque Monday, with Ivan De Jesus, Alex Castellanos and Josh Fields each picking up three hits in six at-bats, but the Isotopes went just 2-for-12 in the game with runners in scoring position.
