RedHawks hold on for 5-4 win
The Albuquerque Isotopes’ late-inning comeback fell short against the Oklahoma City RedHawks Wednesday night.
The Isotopes fell behind 5-2 heading into the bottom of the eighth, but Joe Becker’s two-run blast cut the deficit down to a single run heading into the final inning.
Down to their final at-bat, Jamie Hoffman kept the game alive with a bloop single, but Oklahoma City closer David Carpenter fanned Jerry Sands to close out the contest, giving the RedHawks a 5-4 victory.
The win snapped a two-game streak for the Isotopes, who had won five of six prior to Wednesday’s game at Isotopes Park.
The Isotopes and RedHawks have two more games remaining in their current series, including tonight’s game. Albuquerque’s Tim Sexton (3-0) will face Oklahoma City’s Gustavo Chacin (2-4) at Isotopes Park.
Game time is 7:05 p.m.
Heading into today’s play, Albuquerque (42-31) holds a one-game lead over Round Rock (40-31) in the PCL American Southern Division.
Albuquerque will travel to Iowa following Thursday’s game.
