Albuquerque faces Memphis, Round Rock in homestand
The Albuquerque Isotopes open a seven-game homestand tonight when they start their four-game series with the Memphis Redbirds at Isotopes Park.
The Isotopes are scheduled to start Michael Antonini (1-3, 4.84 ERA) against Memphis’ Nick Additon (1-6, 5.40) in tonight’s opener. First pitch is set for 7:05 p.m.
Several promotions are planned for this homestand, including tonight’s home appliance giveaway. Fireworks are scheduled for Saturday night and $.50 hot dog night is Monday.
Albuquerque (33-27) may have gotten back on the winning track. After starting its recent road trip 1-5, Albuquerque won its final two against the Round Rock Express, including Tuesday’s 2-0 victory in the series finale.
John Ely (5-4) won a pitcher’s duel against Round Rock’s Zach Jackson (2-6). Ely went 6-2/3 innings, and struck out eight batters to pick up the win.
Josh Wall pitched the ninth inning to earn his 12th save of the year.
Offensively, Jerry Sands had a RBI groundout in the sixth to break the scoreless tie and Matt Angle drove in Brian Cavaos-Galvez in the eighth.
