Isotopes blasted by Redbirds
In what’s quickly turning into a rough road trip, the Albuquerque Isotopes were roughed up by the Memphis Redbirds Wednesday.
The Redbirds scored five runs in the first two innings, knocking around Isotopes starter John Ely early as they pounded the ‘Topes 11-1 in Memphis.
The loss was the third straight and fifth in sixth games for the Isotopes (28-24), who suffered their most lopsided loss of the season. The Isotopes are 1-5 on the current road trip and still have six more away games before returning to Albuquerque June 9.
Albuquerque’s lone run came in the fifth when Trent Oeltjen led off with a solo home run.
