The Albuquerque Isotopes couldn't hang on to an early three-run lead in their season opening contest Thursday.
The Omaha Storm Chasers scored four runs in the seventh to take the lead and never looked back as they downed the Isotopes 8-4 at Werner Park.
Thursday's game was the first of eight on the road for Albuquerque to start the 2012 season. Its home opener is set for April 13.
Albuquerque left 14 runners on base through the first six innings and only scored one run after the fourth inning. Albuquerque had eight hits in the contest and drew a whopping 10 walks but went just 1-for-13 with runners in scoring position.
Omaha third baseman Kevin Kouzmanoff went 2-for-4 with a pair of doubles to spark the Storm Chasers' comeback. Kouzmanoff drove in three runs for the Storm Chasers (1-0).
For the Isotopes, right fielder Scott Van Slyke and shortstop Luis Cruz both went 2-for-4 and scored a run. Van Slyke had a solo home run in the eighth inning.
Brent Leach (0-1) took the loss, giving up three runs — only one of them earned — in 1-2/3 innings in relief of starter Mike Parisi.
