There is a lot to celebrate this month. Martin Luther King Jr. Day, Jan. 19, is an opportunity to recognize one man’s profound achievements while Inauguration Day, which is Jan. 20, represents a monumental success that is shared by President-elect Obama and an entire nation.
What better way to celebrate these two events than with a community party?
A public party will be held from 5-10 p.m. Jan. 19 at Central Avenue Grill. The band, Jet Black will provide live music and appetizers will be served, along with alcohol beverages, if participants provide an I.D.
There will be a cover charge of $5. Children who are 10 years old or younger will be admitted for free if accompanied by a paying adult.
Organizers emphasize the party has nothing to do with politics and has everything to do with celebrating.
“We want to celebrate and it’s open to everybody and we want to get the word out about it,” said Kyle Wheeler, one of the organizers.
“It’s for anybody, everybody,” Jody Benson, another organizer, added.
