The Los Alamos Hilltopper boys tennis team could be in a position for a repeat in the Class 4A doubles tournament.
Los Alamos’ top doubles team of Dominic Lucido/Chase Havemann earned the top seed in the upcoming Class 4A playoffs.
Lucido/Havemann will open tournament play Thursday morning after earning a first-round bye.
The 4A singles and doubles playoffs start Wednesday night in Albuquerque.
That tournament continues through Thursday, while the 4A team championship tournament gets underway Friday.
Both tournaments will be played at the Jerry Cline Tennis Complex in Albuquerque.
For the singles and doubles tournaments, the Hilltopper boys and girls teams have a total of seven entries.
Lucido/Havemann could meet up against fellow Hilltoppers Misha Skurikhin/Dalton Smith in Thursday’s second round. Skurikhin/Smith will take on eighth-seeded Curtis Hunt/Nathaniel Pavlik of Farmington in Wednesday’s opening round.
For Los Alamos’ boys doubles teams, they will attempt to win their second straight state title. The team of Patrick Raichur/Matt Whicker won the state title in 2010, Los Alamos’ first boys doubles title since 1989.
