The public is invited to a talk on "Nuclear Policy in the Obama Administration: Continuity or Change?" by Joseph F. Pilat at an open meeting of the Los Alamos Committee on Arms Control and International Security on Wednesday, Feb. 25, at 7:30 pm in Graves Hall at the United Church in Los Alamos.
As the Obama administration addresses critical issues and new approaches in many areas of governmental policy, one important topic, nuclear weapons, has not yet received major public attention nationally. Dr. Pilat is highly qualified to provide an informed discussion of the available options and the courses of action that are expected to follow against a backdrop of nuclear arsenals in Pakistan, India and Israel, aspirants Iran and North Korea, and ongoing concerns about existing international treaties including the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT) and the US-Russia START treaty.
